Position Objective

The ideal candidate is a social media junkie who is always asking, “How can we do this better? How can we be more effective?” They want to be part of a fun, interactive environment and are passionate about the role digital marketing and social media play in NAVC’s success, and the success of its brands.

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Director, the Social Media Manager will be the primary social strategist for a variety of NAVC brands, advertising clients and events. This role will have a direct impact on our veterinary community and animal health that inspires a deep connection and engagement with our brand. In this role, they will develop and execute content plans; oversee the daily management of all of the NAVC’s social media accounts (including posting, monitoring and responding); regularly monitor and report metrics and develop and implement social media paid advertising campaigns. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Seek to connect and understand our audience through engagement, by creating compelling content and by joining relevant conversations on social media 
  • Build brand awareness and foster cross-promotion 
  • Lead our internal and external advertising campaigns across 15 social media ad accounts 
  • Manage day-to-day content, monitor and respond across 25 social media accounts
  • Understand the uniqueness of each social media platform by utilizing the appropriate content and posting cadence 
  • Understand where our veterinary audience is on social media and be able to connect with them
  • Follow brand guidelines and creative toolkits when creating unique content on social media platforms 
  • Create consistent social media campaigns that launch and flow directly with marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as the subject matter expert including marketing, PR, advertising, media, education and event. 
  • Effectively explain the “why” behind metrics and analytics to other members of the marketing team as well as senior leadership
  • Strategically develop, report and build the NAVC audience on social media 
  • Continually seek to learn and understand how social media fits into the greater digital marketing strategy 
  • Stay current on emerging trends in social media platforms, measurement and user habits to ensure that NAVC is properly positioned to capitalize on this communications/engagement channel.


  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution 
  • 5+ years of experience developing and executing both paid and organic social media strategies across multiple brands
  • Excellent knowledge of social media management platforms (Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout, Social Studio)
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills 
  • Superb people skills with a proven ability to interact with colleagues in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with CMS and Google Applications is encouraged 
  • Excellent organizational skills including a demonstrated ability to efficiently plan, organize and manage projects with limited direct supervision
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, delivering on time
  • Track record of taking initiative and driving projects through to completion
  • Mature, detail-oriented, able to work well under tight deadlines and work independently, collaboratively and with a team, solving problems in a resourceful manner
  • Independent and creative thinker who can bring new ideas and perspectives to existing clients and/or products
  • Superior customer service skills and support for a variety of internal and external clients
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and needs of the organization
