Position Title:  Executive Director, Veterinary Innovation Council
Location:  Orlando, FL.  or Remote
Reports To:  Chief Executive Officer
FLSA Status:  Exempt

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Orlando, Florida, with offices in Gainesville, FL, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide world-class professional development for the global veterinary healthcare community. Most importantly we provide a fun, engaging and collaborative working environment where your talents and strengths will be utilized to serve the veterinary profession and assist in achievement of the NAVC mission.

The Veterinary Innovation Council (VIC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to and quality of animal healthcare worldwide by developing and championing disruptive solutions surrounding key emerging issues.  Its Mission is to be an effective steward of the veterinary profession, instigating needed change in a collaborative way to transform the veterinary ecosystem with a vision to seek out innovation that advances the veterinary medical profession and leads to improved animal health and welfare.


Position Objective:

This critical and high-profile position is responsible for three key areas of the organization:

  1. Serve as the Executive Director of the Veterinary Innovation Council (VIC)and is responsible to the Board of Directors.
  2. Build and manage strategic industry relationships with other associations, corporate hospital groups, and industry.
  3. To advance the mission of VIC.

This individual is a highly self-motivated, experienced professional with exceptional relationship management skills that can think strategically and implement tactically.  The person will have a dynamic personality, be committed to helping NAVC and the profession grow, and, most important, know how to have fun while getting great things done in the workplace.  This area of responsibility is a KEY strategic focus of NAVC in its newly updated strategic plan.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of VIC Board of Directors governance with direction provided from VIC Board Chair including but not limited to:
  • Lead VIC in a manner that supports the organization’s mission as defined by the VIC Board of Directors
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions
  • Work with the Board and NAVC staff to initiate, coordinate and execute the annual Veterinary Innovation Summit
  • Create board meeting agendas
  • Facilitate board meetings and calls
  • VIC financial performance and viability, including sourcing for sponsorships and maintenance of key partner accounts



  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Veterinary Medicine or similar field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Dynamic personality
  • Servant Leader
  • Knowledge of current Veterinary Issues
  • Solid group and interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) required
  • Ability to travel 30%+/- throughout the year
